Glossary (Tooth & Nail)

Arcanosphere (aa·kay·no·sfeeuh) – A term for general background magic levels and how they interact with one another.

Arcanotype (aa·kay·no·tipe) – A term for one of four broad styles of magic that a mage is able to manipulate.

Aspect (a·spekt) – A term used to describe the legendary personifications of a broken god that ruled Trissk’thala as tyrant-rulers.

Bara (bah·rah) – A small group of Yrgol families, often semi-nomadic.

Birka (buh·kuh) – A city in southern Fjujhost.

Daericani (deuh·ruh·kaa·nee) A group of related sapient draconic species.

Daqin (da·keen) – A nation far to the south of Thala, known for their bureaucracy and alchemy.

Fitz (fits) – A derogatory term for someone with unknown parentage, predominantly used within the Konreig Empire.

Fjarl (fyaal) – A Fjujan title that loosely translates as warden.

Fjujhost (fyoo·ho·st) – The most recently occupied province of the Konreig Empire, currently in open rebellion against the Throne.

Imperial Civil War (im·peeuh·ree·uhl si·vl waw) – A conflict within the Empire headed by the Konreig and Kuhlner families, both attempting to claim the Imperial Throne. (386 -391 I.Y)

Kragiv-Stal (krag·eev stal) – A western province of the Konreig Empire known for the purity of their metal deposits. Currently governed by the Strahl family.

Lairz (leuhz) – A Tszerrichan title that loosely translates to landowner.

Melech (meh·lek) – A Thalan title that loosely translates to lieutenant or assistant.

Norjhost (naw·ho·st) – A region to the north of Kragiv-Stal populated by nomadic herders and fisherpeople.

Oesel (o·sehl) – A fallen nation situated in the Trilithik Isles. Houses Seorsa and Tszerrik both survive as nation-states, while the Yrgol eke out a living as travellers. Other Houses, including Oeska and En’templa, disappeared long ago.

Scheltz’s Comet (shelts ko·muht) – A celestial body that reappears approximately every twenty-nine years.

Seorsa (see·or·sa) – A kingdom in name only, a nation occupying much of the Trilithik Isles. Ruled by a hereditary council of wealthy nobles.

Saedura·(say·duor·ah) – A magically-altered ape, shaped with sorcerous sigils to form a living siege weapon.

Shadow, Imperial (sha·dow, im·peeuh·ree·uhl) – Secret police of the Konreig Empire. Publicly, partnered with Spire mages to protect them from anti-magic prejudice, and to protect the populace from them.

Spire, Imperial (spai·uh, im·peeuh·ree·uhl) – An Imperial institution dedicated to training and controlling mages.

Snake of Birka (snayk of buh·kuh) – The name given to a group of loyalist Imperial refugees fleeing Fjujhost during the recent rebellion.

Tarnon (taa·non) – A northern province of the Konreig Empire.

Takuq (ta·kuk) – A Norjan spirit.

Thala (thah·lah) – A collection of loosely-allied city-states built on the ruins of ancient Trissk’thala.

Radical (ra·duh·kl) – An Imperial term for mages unaffiliated with the Spire.

Reiget Trade Guild (ray·get trayd gild) – A group of merchants, mostly Imperial, that cooperate towards mutual profit.

Trilithik (tril·li·thuhk) – An archipelago south of the Konreig Empire and north of Thala.

Trissk’thala (trisk·thah·lah) – An ancient nation ruled by tyrant god-kings near present day Thala, destroyed by Urathear.

Tszerrik (seh·ruhk) – A theocratic nation occupying multiple isles in the southern Trilithiks.

Ulora (uh·luh·rah) – Principle Imperial deity, the Judge.

Urathear (uh·ra·feeuh) – One of four elder gods, associated with purity, destruction, and dragons.

Urlungenlied, The (uh·luhng·uhn·leed) – A pre-Imperial epic poem.

Velast (vel·ast) – A Fjujan city.

Wealmaer, Saint (weel·mehr) – An Uloric saint, originally from an unknown Yrgol Bara.

Yrgol (eeuh·gohl) – A defunct Oesel house. Presently itinerant nomads of both the Empire and Trilithik Isles.
